Yes, everyone needs to look at the bigger picture - what future we leave for our children and for generations to come.

People are trying to make a living, have a little respect for them, all these left-wing hippy rebel without a clue middle-class tree-huggers need a lesson in lifes harsh realities,i remember one who was caught at heathrow earlier this year a guy mid 20's crying, genuinely crying,on camera  he wouldn't last 2 seconds working at Smithfield or any other work environment.

"have a little respect" for the people who want to see a future.
"need a lesson in lifes harsh realities" - there may not be life the way the world is heading.

Regardless of what anyone on this forum thinks, protests will continue.
From the link that Keith posted:
Scientists say avoiding meat and dairy products is the single biggest way to reduce the environmental impact on the planet, reducing the land needed for farming by more than 75% globally.

Earlier this month an IPCC report said that intensive farming and razing forests for meat production was having a devastating environmental impact, and that moving to a plant-based diet would help tackle the climate crisis."

The protests in the main are ineffectual :) they are a minor annoyance like a mosquito buzzing around while your eating your lunch,i hope anyone who supports them has strength of conviction and doesn't allow their families to fly around just for vacations?

This "minor annoyance" is certainly not minor and protests will continue.
I think we know this is a given.

Umm.... Excuse me but you're the ones preaching to the rest of us (the majority) how to live our lives, what we can eat and what we must give up - - and all to give you some self-satisfaction and a purpose in life.

They are effectual in increasing more co2 being pumped into the air through traffic diversion ie diverting traffic in central London, potential lost loads so the carcasses that should of been sold are destroyed and more are brought in at a later date again increasing the co2 footprint and more animals slaughtered etc etc.
I am all for doing something about climate change but people in glass houses really shouldn't throw stones

This outrage expressed above has a rather apt comment piece today in the Graun

"Male environmentalists get their share of vitriol, too –It’s selfishness, rather than misogyny, that is surely the root cause of this rage at the very idea of being asked to give up any individual freedom – to fly, drive, eat a steak, carry on with our oblivious lives as if nothing was happening – for the greater good. But female climate campaigners are perhaps uniquely prone to press the buttons of what might be called toxic libertarians; people who combine a burning desire to do what the hell they like with fury at the very idea of being nagged, nannied or told what to do, especially by women. We are way beyond arguing about the science here, and fast moving beyond politics too, at least in the conventional sense of debating how far and how fast it’s reasonable to move in a democracy, or whether the moral absolutists of movements such as Extinction Rebellion have thought hard enough about the impact on other people’s livelihoods.
