It was my understanding that the purpose of the 'new' Affidavit (or Affirmation for us non-religious types) was to replace the previous CNI requirement.
I used the Affirmation document... plus covering letter, explaining to the locals about the new arrangement, given by the British Embassy, when I was married in the Phils back in 2015.

    Another question to ask,
We are in the midst of getting ROA for the kids. But my partner went to talk to lawyer in uk and you are right about getting them British passport. The only thing that bother is that it takes few months before it will arrive. Do you think its OK to apply for family visit for the kids and then get British passport whilst in the UK? Thank you so much.

    Graham /Oss/Markham TIA

My reply... I'm afraid I can't answer your question, with any authority. Sorry :(

I know nothing about Family Visit Visas.

I do have a suspicion that your children's passport applications will still be treated as foreign based ones... and any passports to be delivered to your home address in the Phils... with the same time scale, as all documents will still need to go backwards and forwards between the two countries, for 'authentification' purposes.

You are making life more complicated and for no good reason. Your children's will take about the same (or likely less) time than your settlement visa.

theres no guarantee you will get a visit visa--many are refused due to high risk of overstayers. my wife had one refused before we were married--even though she had lived here in the UK for 4 years as a student before

I don't know what your plans are should you successfully obtain visit visas for you all but you need to note

You cannot apply for a spouse visa within the UK.
If the children come here on one passport and return to the Philippines on a dìfferant one in a short space of time and you are using return tickets you may present problems to the airline and immigration or both
