Hello My finance is moving in Leeds in July, but she’s struggling to find a decent house and neighborhood with the her budget of £500 to £550/month. She will be working in a hospital located around LS9. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. God bless
Sounds like she needs to find a house share with one of her work colleagues... if she's looking for a better type neighbourhood, and she's new to the city. Leeds is a pretty dire place to be honest... and LS9 particularly so. IMHO. 'Harehills' area is horrible. Try to live outside of that postcode, would be my advice. Crossgates isn't too bad, not far away, and good transport links. I lived in a Leeds postcode before moving to the Phils.
Thank you so much for your reply Sir @graham59. Actually, she was actually advised by her friend to avoid harehills hehe! So hearing it again from you, i guess she must really avoid it then. But my fiance told me when she visited harehills the place is quite posh. But i should advice her now so she could delete harehills in her list. Thanks a lot Sir! Really happy to received an advise from you.
OK, that sounds great. Hope all goes well for both of you in your endeavour to be together Are you hoping to join her in the UK?
Thank you @aposhark. Yeah, it’s part of the plan. But i’ve been praying she would find a decent and safe place in Leeds.
Leeds is a decent place, I am still based in Headingley though I spend most of the year away from the UK, travelling. Best of luck, hope she finds a reasonable place to live.
Have a good browse on this forum to help you and your partner find the best way to be together, how to satisfy all the requirements. I am very rusty with all the up-to-date information as it was many years ago that I married my wife in the Philippines and she got her spousal visa. Best of luck, Tin
There are several large towns with easy access to Leeds (Dewsbury, Wakefield, Bradford) which are probably cheaper for accommodation. If accomodation costs are an issue, I'd maybe look at a short-term agreement in Leeds, and get familiar with the area after arrival to see if one of those towns could be convenient and cost effective.
Such a shame so many of the 'nurses homes' (on-site accommodation) has gone now in the UK. That would have been ideal for a new starter. I was engaged to a young lady many years ago, throughout her nurse training in York, and then on to her first 'job' at Seacroft Hospital in Leeds... where my sister was born (just a couple of miles up the road from Harehills) . Perhaps check in to a cheap 'Bed and Breakfast' place at first, and then speak to other staff at work, who will surely be able to come up with something suitable and safe.
@Druk1 awww! Haha! I’m glad she the agent didnt get back to her, she actually found one in Harehills. I’m just wondering, how come in google earth neighborhood seems decent But thanks for the info, we will now remove Harehills in her list.
