Hello Everyone! I'm Carz Abbott, I used to be a member here but unfortunately I forgot my logins (silly me) anyway Im currently living in the UK with my husband and son. I have a spouse visa and my BRP is going to expire on October 2019,. Im just wondering how long does it usually takes for the visa extension to process? And when is ideal time/month for me to process it? Thanks mga kababayan in advance!
I think you can only apply with 28 days of the expiry date. Once you apply it does not matter if you do not get the reply before the end of your current visa, as long as you have applied and are booked in
Thank you! Drunken Max.. coz I'm actually preparing for the requirements, and done with the English test (selt A2). I'm just a bit worried that I might be doing it too early. Or it doesn't matter as long as I apply before it expires?? There are some website that says within 28days or after 33months so im confused. But thank u again
It does matter and it needs to be within 28 days of the expiry date. You need 60 months residency when you come to apply for ILR.
*** Thanks HaloHalo, so since my BRP expires by October, so if iI'l apply sometime on September then, it'll be okay?..but I've started with the requirements already. Thanks again.
That's correct and good you got the English Requirement out of the way too. Make sure you take the Life in the UK test!
I thought there's no need for the Life in the UK test since I'm applying for the extension for the spousal visa. What I've learned is that the Life in the UK test is for the indefinite leave to remain , which is after the second 2.5years spouse visa. Please enlighten me if I'm wrong. But as I've researched, same processes/requirements are needed for the spouse extension as the first time except the English A2 test.
You're quite right, my bad. My wife didn't need to do the Life in the UK test until we started to apply for the ILR. She just did the A2 test in London for our second FLM(m) application two years or so ago. Sorry for the confusion as I understand getting all the requirements is stressful!
That's okay. Just got a bit worried because I haven't prepared for the test. Heheh. Although I'm still nervouse for the processes and upcoming application. Its seems that I can start applying for the extension after my 2.5years here and latest to apply is within 28days before Oct. 2019 which is my BRP expiration date. Am I correct or still got it confused? Sorry it's been quite stressful.
Hey guys sorry if this is asked already but I’ll try explain as simple as possible. My wife is extending her visa another 2.5 years and we know you now need the A2 English test. however she took and English lesson upon arrival and were wondering if that is enough or is the A2 compulsory? it’s an SQA qualification called “ESOL in context” SCQF level 3.
