    Hello everyone!

Been a while since I was last online. Anyway, anyone here who had recently filled-out an Affidavit for Delayed Registration of Birth? Just thought of reporting my daughter's birth now (she's 7) because I have managed to get an appointment on the consular tour here in Manchester.

I just wanted to know what you wrote on the following questions in the affidavit:

    1. That I/he/she was attended at birth by _______ who resides at ______
    2. That the reason for the delay in registering my/his/her birth was due to ______.

I can answer the 2nd question as due to laziness but would not dare write it.. hahaha.. Any ideas folks?

    Thanks.

We did the same a few years ago but can’t remember what we wrote but don’t worry as you will be sat at a desk opposite the embassy official and they will advise.

Are you just registering or getting a passport also?

Here’s what we did (replace NSO with PSA nowadays)

I believe I am correct in saying that the first question is asking for details of the doctor / midwife who assisted with the birth. Goodness only knows why they want that info as it doesn't appear on the birth certificate. Both my sons were born in Davao Doctors and the hospital prepared all the paperwork, I just had to sign - oh and pay!

    Hi,

I am actually applying for dual cit, and since I'm already there, might as well report my daughter's birth. I will also be applying for her Phil passport if allowed on that day but don't think is it as you need a PSA version of the document to apply for a passport. Thanks for the link.

That was my initial thought too, but I don't know who the midwife was and even if I did, I don't think they will give me their home address. I was thinking it could be someone who can attest that she is my child as he/she saw her at the hospital.. like a family member or friend?

Hi Florge, just give them a certified copy of your daughter's UK birth certificate and say she was born in tbe Maternity Unit of (hospital name) in Manchester (or wherever).

Hmm okay on the dual citizenship. We had a conversation about this not long ago and your opinion would be appreciated.

We were musing about whether once someone has attained British citizenship whether they renounced their Filipino citizenship. It was assumed that if it wasn't renounced (rightly or wrongly) then the Filipino authorities may not be aware, hence no need to re-aquire (like you are doing). When you got Citizenship was that then disclosed to the Embassy or something as part of the ceremony?

I am not so sure, but my Philippine passport will be expiring this June so would have to reacquire Phil citizenship. I also plan on buying properties in the Philippines and if I am only British, I can't own one so better have dual citizenship. Best to be prepared for any eventuality.

Thanks. All requirements are ready. It's the same list anyway in the London embassy website.

Right then.. just to give an update re the consular appointment in Manchester. On the 2 questions in the affidavit that I am not sure about, the Consul (I would assume that he is as he was the one who initiated the Oath) said to just write the hospital where my daughter was born and on the reason, to write "unable to go to the embassy". Dual citizenship and report of birth done in 10 minutes.

What I observed though is, a lot of the applicants went there without an appointment, hoping to get squeezed in but priority is given to those with appointments. Also, a lot of the applicants came in with incomplete documents. This has caused delay to some as they need to go out and have something photocopied, then jumped back in the queue. There was one Filipina who wasted the day and journey to Manchester and wasn't able to reacquire her citizenship because she had no Report of Marriage document (which is one of the requirements). Of course, the husband was pissed; but more at the wife than the staff . Overall, it was a good day. All sorted now for me.
