    Hi all,

We will shortly be applying for a spouse visa so that my wife and 2 children can come to the UK in April.

My daughter has a Right of Abode in her PH passport.

I also have an 8 month old son who only has a PH passport. No ROA.

Do i need to apply for a ROA for my son as the passport process will take too long for an April visit? Or is there anyway I can include my son on the Spouse visa ( as a dependent ?) and thereby avoid having to apply for the ROA and also save the money I would spend on the ROA?

Appreciate any advice and guidance on this one.

Have you not applied for British Passports for your children?

    Hi there,

my understanding is that the passports will take a year? So no chance of getting them done before April.

Do you know if we can include the child without roa on the spouse visa or we must apply for roa only?

    Thanks

First of all, you must apply for a British Passport in the country of birth, you can not apply for them from within the UK. Passport are currently taking around four months, provided you provide full and complete evidential information and you could include a letter stating your proposed travel plans. With spouse visa applications taking over four months to be considered, you should be in possession of your children's Passports by August or September - the earliest you can expect a decision for a visa application made in April.

You must apply for separate settlement visas for all non-British citizens.

Hi thank u so much for the info! Appreciate the feedback.

Gulp, I thought the spouse visa would only take 2 months?

I was going to apply now in the hope of getting it back by April.

Are there any fast track options?

I aslo thought the ROA only took a few weeks to process - so was the quicker option.

    Cheers,

    Richard

most settlement visas now taking 60 to 90 WORKING days. so 3 months minimum. there is no real fast track option any more. but you can pay for priority service ( was + £500)--but that simply puts your application to the front of the queue. pah !

No and the ROA expires at the same time as the foreign Passport.

A first time child's Passport costs £72.86 including the courier fees for having the Passport and evidential documents returned to you (in the Philippines). On the other hand, a Right of Abode certificate costs £423 and you will (now) have to wait about (or at least) six months for a decision. You will also have to renew the Certificate at the cost prevailing at the time the existing Passport is renewed (ie at least £423).

    Hi All,

ROA update. As of September 2018. Applied via VFS Cebu.

Just to let you know that we applied for the ROA and received it after 17 working days.

I did call UKVI at around 15 days to see what the status was and they said it could take 6 months ! But we received it more or less 24 hours after!

    Cheers,

As a side note , can you tell me how you booked with VFS in Cebu please ?

We've tried twice now but ended up going to Manila .

Hi, I have read your post and this is very relevant to our situation. We are in the midst of applying ROA for our 2 children. How much do they charge ROA in vfs cebu? I leave in Visayas too. I hope you can help me with it.

    Thank you
