Whatever you do, wherever you go, whatever you buy, its all data, people are nothing but data gatherers for big corporations, who make shedloads of money out of it. Staying anonymous and private these days is now impossible. Everyone, dead or living is now a file on a computer somewhere.
Its not about the data for me just the constant attention to the small screen I see all around me 3000 swipes a day now for your average smart phone is madness
It's actually easy to be sat at a meal with your kids and have nobody swiping on a screen. You just don't allow phones at the dinner table. It baffles me that parents seem to allow this. I see it all the time. I see parents (mainly Filipino, I have to say) who will give a 6 month kid a phone to look at while they are feeding them just to shut them up.
Thought provoking. A critique of consumerism and (some might contend) capitalism altogether. I'm guilty of overusing my mobile generally - and social media particularly. I will turn back and drive several miles to collect my phone left on the sofa - even if just going a relatively short journey. I just use FB and YouTube - no Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter - but seem to have acquired 120 applications on my android device. I've never checked each individual setting so am aware I'll be tracked up to my neck. I also hate the assumed desire that I want everything synched and backed up to the Cloud - or my contacts shared across platforms. I am aware of the new Data Protection law here in UK ( my employer made us all complete an online test! ) and believe strongly in the principle of informed consent. But the truth is we are all mostly willing to surrender that at the click of a mouse. Winston Smith was arguably less surveiled

More worrying for me is that people believe that crap. Ive never owned a mobile phone ,so still don`t understand what all the fuss is about.. What I don`t like is when my lot keep putting pictures of my dinner on Face book when we eat out and publish it even before I've touched it!.. Whats that about?
Boots you believe in Alien conspiracy theories you couldn't spot a fake news story even if the publisher stood in front of you admitting that the news they published was fake When people get to the point that anything they don't like is branded 'fake' then they have lost themselves, how can anyone participate in the world when they only believe what they want to believe and deny what it is right in front of their face. Regards the video you posted, yeah pretty much all true, but it is people that make those choices, one of the sad things about the Information Age is that instead of having clear discussions with those around us, we are all now in a huge crowded room where everyone is speaking all at the same time, the sound is deafening and all meaning and actual communication gets lost and people then gravitate towards those that are shouting the loudest no matter what they are actually saying just so they can hear something and escape the noise.
I obviously don’t want to get political but the most powerful politition on Earth always sites fake news. Basically if anyone doesn’t fall in line with his views and methodolgies he just brands it as fake news. Someone, indeed anyone unwilling to at least listen to the other side of a view/statement/argument is potentially dangerous. Sadly we live in a world of screw-you, me, me, me. I've been looking at a Dual Sim Android Chinese phones for a while not ready to pull the trigger yet but the Xiaomi A1 Android One was one possible choice, dodgy phones are too close to reality for me to consider one but by all means let us know how you get on with it I bet it is brilliant! I bought an 'Oppo' phone for my daughter a few months back albeit that I was not very happy buying a phone for a ten year old, I was very impressed with the quality of the device, really impressive very well constructed. I need a phone that can manage my local private UK sim and my normal Philippine Smart SIM.
Who saw a news segment the the other day about Duterte and posted a malicious and fake headline thus creating a new fact for us to digest? Can`t remember now but it`s par for the course these days.. We must remain vigilant and pursue and call out the truth in this age of "misinformation"! Vital in this day and age because any Joe Blo can publish a story on the internet based on "fact". Show me the evidence,and it better be good!
