Looks like you had a fun time. I was supposed to be visiting near Paris in 2 weeks but seems it's not happening now :(

It was amazing :) Quite touristy, but I can understand... Paris is undoubtedly one of those enthralling city that I've ever been. No worries, I'm sure you'll find a way to make it happen :like:

It is expensive. And it cost us double for a MacDonalds there compared to here!

My brother used to run the British Embassy there... though I never did take him up on the offer of a guided tour...or to bunk down at his flashy tax-payer funded apartment. :)

... Did change planes at one of the airports once though, when flying Air France to Manila. :D

Not much chance of flying Air France at the minute, they and the SNCF are on strike in traditional French style.

I've always fancied going there to try out my schoolboy French from 50 years ago :D... but other countries have taken precedence.
My brother is bi-lingual and very much a 'Francophile' .... also having a second home out there.

I have forgotten a lot of my schoolboy french now. I managed to get away with speaking English, just. My partner asked for ice cream and the waiter no comprehendez but I was able to rescue the situation with glacé so I have remembered some of the words but cannot string a sentence together anymore except for “Je suis le professor” and a few other lines.

I have been 5 times now but the main driving force was my partner wanting to go. She ended up taking a million photos of the Eiffel Tower.

It was one of my least favourite subjects at school, but I'm always amazed at how much I've remembered down the years. BUT mostly stuff absorbed up the age of about 14 or 15 years. The human brain is such a sponge when you're a kid, and knowledge gathered then seems to get filed away into a special non-erasable section.

I agree. I remember many of the lines learned in parrot fashion. Such as:

    Ou est la gare?
Pour aller a Paris cest bien par la?
    Avez vous des Bon Bon?
Non, le bateau et deja partis.

    Loads of them.

    Exactly.

I suspect that might have been @bigmac ‘s line.

How about “I blow my nose in your general direction” courtesy of Monty Python?
