Minimum Income Requirement for bring one child (only) to the UK

A search of the Home Office website suggests that the Minimum Income Requirement is £22,400 for a settled person to bring a spouse and a child under 18 to the UK.

But what I need to know is the Minimum Income Requirement for a mother to just bring the child to the UK. Not the spouse and the child. (Sadly the spouse has died).
Every attempt to find this figure has taken me to a source confirming the income requirement to bring the child and the spouse. £22,400.

Of course.....it may well be the same figure to bring just the child. Can anyone point me to a link showing this and therefore removing all doubt? Please.
We are currently jumping through hoops for the Mother in the UK to combine several jobs to reach £22,400 earnings so I am anxious to know if we have the correct figure or the wrong figure.

    Thanks

I can't post a link..all I can say is my wife has just applied to bring her son over...and we took it as £22400 for the requirement, even though she came over 21 months ago.

a lot will depend on the status of the mother.

i'm easily confused. who was the settled person--the father ? how long has the mother been in the UK ? what is her current visa status ?

Mother has been in the UK 10 years.
She was awarded ILR on the day that Typhoon Haiyan hit Tacloban. (Almost exactly 4 years ago to the day).
Father has never been to UK. He has now died. Mother has full (formal) custody of her daughter. Mother is in the UK after a long trip to Ph to organise care of daughter with other family members.
    Daughter is 16.

If I made the rules.....allowing the daughter to join her mother right now would be a no brainer.
Sadly I don't make the rules.

The monthly earnings is critical and a huge worry.

Surely the figure will only be £18,600, as there are only two individuals involved.

This figure is tied in with the level at which benefits would kick in ... for TWO people in a household. I may be wrong, but that is my first thoughts on it.

Phone (or email) the relevant government department, for an up to date and definitive answer.

i too would be inclined to contact the govt dept--it would be very interesting to hear the outcome--if they will give any advice at all.

Mattecube - that was a very confident response! :)

Can you say any more or relate any experiences?
If not I will certainly make an attempt to get someone in the Home Office to confirm this.

    Wow. wow. wow.

It is so close I feel I can touch it.
Mattecube says it is £18,600. For obvious reasons I would just like to see it for myself. I suspect it is mentioned in the guidance notes for VAF4. I looked for those yesterday but no luck yet.

you may not realise it--but the current earnings rules only came in in july 2012.....so as the woman was here in the UK beforehand---i think this will have a bearing in this case. otherwise if she had come over since then--but delayed bringing the child over--then the £22,400 would apply. am i making sense ?

well--if the mother came over and settled before july 2012 ( 2 year route then )--then the earnings rule didnt exist. cant very well impose it now--can they ?---so--the child would require the sponsor to earn £18,600. not £22,400.

whereas since 2012 the new earnings rule applies..whether the kid came over with the mother--or separately. like my wife--and her son. it will be 2 years between the 2 applications--but i'm sure the £22,4 level still applies to us.

but--as usual--this is just my opinion. but then the case in question is a bit unusual.

The way I read the post is that it's only mother and she will sponsor child.
As with mine and your situation we have mother and child on process so I think ours is £22400 theirs will be 18600 I think.
Equally as mum is ILR she has no more visa applications to fullfill other than an application if wanted to be a British citizen.
In essence it is only the child in process

I think every tiny detail has the potential to be really important. I discovered that during the ILR process when a chance find (after hundreds of hours searching) revealed transition arrangements which allowed a particular category of employee (in the care sector) to be exempt from the introduction of punitive hourly rate requirements.

In this case my reading is that the person arriving pre 2012 probably doesn't gain an advantage. In 2.2 The scope for exemptions, the first paragraph gives hope for optimism.....which seems to be removed in the first sentence of the second paragraph.

The more I think about the income requirement, the more I think that Mattecube is right.
To bring your partner to to the Uk: Your earnings requirement is £18,600.
To bring your partner and your one child to the Uk:Your earnings requirement is £24k +

If only a child is coming......and the child is 16 or 17......then the child is almost at the end of (UK) state education......and is about to enter the world of Work, or University which will be paid for by the child!
So logic (oh no.....I used the word Logic) would suggest that the almost adult child is equivalent to bringing a spouse (only) to the UK.

I am not building up our hopes yet. But I very interested in what everyone has had to say.
