I saw this today. For some, nuts are extremely hazardous to their health. And airlines cannot guarantee a nut free flight!

A Filipina friend of Mrs Grave's - her husband and their daughter are seriously affected by nuts. ...

Hey, this is serious stuff. :D I had a similar reaction to fresh tuna. It had quite a potent effect on me.

Personally, I don't feel it's a good idea to ban nuts or indeed tuna on the off chance that someone else on the flight might have a reaction. I would prefer the airline publicise that nuts may be present on the flight and let those people choose to fly at their own risk, or not. The good of the many surely should outweigh the good of the few.

i think the airlines need to ban all passengers who may have an infectious illness--just in case someone else catches it.

Why not ban the disabled while you're at it - after all, they might get in the way and slow you down when you're trying to embark or disembark? Or how about banning those with children? Or old codgers with trophy brides?

Paranoia at play here methinks, probably brought-on by the warm weather.

    this allergy business.
ive been allergic to very furry cats all my life : short haired ones--no problem, had 2 sealpoint siamese for years
but if i'm visiting a friends--who has a very fluffy cat--i dont expect them to get rid of it. i just ask them to stop it climbing on me. i cant see why people with known allergies should expect everyone else to have to make sacrifices for them

People with nut allergies tend to walk around with an epi pen (Epinephrine) to counter the anaphylaxis brought on by their allergy. Why their entire environment needs to be nut-free is beyond me if they have the cure readily to hand.

The answer is simple - and doesn't just apply to those with nut allergies. They won't accept responsibility for themselves but expect others to take full responsibility and tailor everything for the benefit of these afflicted snowflakes.

You just banned my breakfast. Bacon and egg toastie with a cup of tea. You can ban it in your own house, but don't expect an invitation to breakfast at mine anytime soon! ;)
