@tipipay basmati rice has the consistency of a fried rice equivalent to the ph. It doesnt matter how much water you put into it, that rice will just absorb it and turn into the fried rice (grain are separated and not sticking to each other)
Thai jasmine rice is the closest one you can get. But sometimes, it only comes in 5 kgs pack. Back in dubai, there is a silver swan brand of jasmine rice which is almost similar to the masipag or 7tonner variety. Just experiment with the water quantity (the longer it has been stored the more water it requires).
Worst case scenario, i was thinking of mixing some of that basmati with some sushi rice to give it a little stickiness.
    Goodluck!

Too expensive for this miser :)

I make a Chilli Chicken Green Pepper in oyster sauce for about £1.12 per portion 8 portions at a time, or a simple batch of Chinese Chicken curry about 66p a portion again about 8 portions at a time, or a Salt and Pepper Chicken at about 80p a portion, Chicken fried rice about 80p a portion, I have a few more favourites :)

Most of the Chinese restaurants around here have gotten lazy and only cater to local British tastes, a lot of takeaways that you could buy 30 - 40 years ago are a pale imitation of the dishes they once were, it's why I love to cook my own, they might not be perfect copies of the dishes I remember but they are close :)

Oh crap! But well. I'll just have to cook it or it will just go to waste. LOL.
Thanks for the tip @Maley, I will certainly look for Thai Jasmine Rice. Haven't been to an Asian shop for stuffs though but went to an Asian resto yesterday and I was happy to see that they serve rice meals. That will satisfy my cravings. :D
Good luck to me and my Basmati rice.

Okay I will have the courage to demand a rice cooker tonight! Or I'll throw his toaster away :D

I could never understand all the different types of rice available in the Philippines.

In the market there are different sacks, different types, different grades, different milling, different price per Kilo or sack...

You do know you can buy Thai Jasmine (various brands) and various other sticky rices, including Japanese, from Amazon by the 10 kilo sack and have it delivered to your door? ;)

I've tried some of the cheaper varieties over there and they are definitely not as nice and the more expensive ones, Ana always bought Jasmine in a large sack from SM.

Erm, get real, have you actually ever seen or experienced the poverty in the Philippines, I have and it is not pretty, plenty of people have to budget to feed a small or large family.

So I bought a big packet of Tesco value long-grain rice.

yep--so did i . what glop. took pints of boiling water to rinse the glue out of it after it was cooked.

tesco american easy cook long grain rice works for me. simmered with a chicken stock cube in it--plus a few frozen peitite pois.. my wife eats it--so it cant be that bad. she has grown approx 350 cavans twice a year for 15 years.

I have seen plenty of poverty in the Philippines, you don't have to wander too far off the beaten track to see it either.

Well in that case I would suggest that the smiley at the end of the following quote was extremely inappropriate and smug, well over half of my children's aunties have lived and still live in poverty and struggle to buy quality food.

As you know Jimmy old boy I am not smug, take a trip to Africa one day, there you will see extreme poverty :)

Disagree, poverty is poverty there comes a point where it hard to make differential gradations.

I've seen college educated people who can't get work go from having meat on their bones to being close the grave in the Philippines.

And if you hadn't noticed before your very well established habit of using condescending (so called jocular) language tends to negate the idea that you are not 'smug'.

Believe it or not the difference in quality is large...NFA "budget" rice is the cheapest and nastiest but it will still fill a hole.
If you want some, then get in line!!
